★☆☆☆☆ FIX THIS APP! Farley213 · 14 Oct 2026THIS APP IS A TRAINWRECK. Bugs that have been going on for over a year are still not fixed. Even recently when it looked like a light at the end of the tunnel with a few things taken care of, I went into this tonight to work and sure enough, documents went back to old names after having been renamed, I was closed out of where I had been just 10 minutes previous when I went to look something up and even after updating, nothing is fixed. Do you have any idea how angry one can get when after HOURS of editing, you go back the next day and not one change has been saved? Even the renaming of a file

defaults back to its original name! I’ve spent months editing a project and now I discover that the last few weeks worth of work were never saved. I now have to go in and remember everything I did the first time, setting me back and costing me money, time and my reputation for getting my work done and completed on schedule and yes, I have enough storage. Also…IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR AND THE FIND AND REPLACE BUG THAT CRASHES THIS APP STILL CONTINUES! Do you understand how difficult this app has been to use lately? Between the crashes, the jumping around on the page, losing my place and the constant find and replace glitch, it is making this app unusable! I have my life’s work, literally on this app and it keeps knocking me out of it on the iPad. Reading other users comments, I am not the only one! This has been going on a while with no updates. PLEASE so many of us rely on your app. FIX THIS!Developer reply · 23 Oct 2025Hi there. We suggest you refresh the app: Settings - Docs - Background App Refresh. If that doesn't help, you may post your query in the Docs Community and get help from our experts: https://goo.gle/3o58rPT. Thank you. -
★★★★★ Best Doc service Schmeatpacker · 15 Sep 2026I wholeheartedly recommend Google Docs to anyone seeking a reliable, accessible word processor. After extensive use for professional reports, collaborative projects, and everyday writing, it has consistently proven itself as an indispensable tool. The standout feature is seamless real-time collaboration. Multiple colleagues can edit the same document simultaneously, leave comments, and track changes without the friction of emailing versions back and forth. Automatic saving and a clear version history provide peace of mind, eliminating concerns about lost work. Accessibility across devices—lapt

op, tablet, or phone—means I can continue drafting or reviewing documents wherever I am, provided I have an internet connection. Offline mode further enhances flexibility for travel or intermittent connectivity. Integration with Google Drive, Gmail, and other Workspace tools streamlines my workflow. Sharing documents is straightforward, permissions are easy to manage, and export options to Word or PDF formats ensure compatibility when needed. The clean interface and useful templates help me produce polished results quickly without a steep learning curve. While it may lack some of the advanced layout controls found in desktop software, these limitations rarely affect my typical tasks. For collaborative work, remote teams, students, and professionals who value convenience and reliability, Google Docs delivers exceptional value at no cost for standard use. In summary, I recommend Google Docs without hesitation. It has improved my productivity and simplified document management, and I continue to rely on it as my primary writing platform. -
★★★☆☆ NOTE – This Is NOT Word. Certified Vampire · 9 Sep 2025Having gotten that out of the way, let's talk about what it IS. 1) It is a fine word processor – It lacks some of the power of platform packages like Word. Still, it does the job I need it to, and I have enormous confidence in the development team. 2) It is totally web-based. This means I can work with it from any system that can access the web. I can start work on my iPad on the bus, continue work on a desktop PC at work, and finish up on my Mac at home. 3) It is a catalyst for teamwork. It shares this with the rest of the Google suite. I was able to make good use of this while I was in schoo

l – those group projects that everyone always hated because of the need to arrange for periodic powwows, suddenly became a breeze. We could all be working on the same project online. At the same time. We could communicate with each other in real time. We could leave comments for each other and know that we would be able to find the answers to our questions when we accessed the work file. 4) It is, most importantly, a work in progress. Sure, it might not have a function I want––NOW––but who is to say that the developers won't find a way to put that function in next week? They are always working to improve the software, the interface, the storage... everything. All the time. 5) There has been considerable talk by users of the loss of control/command key combinations for text formatting; this does not appear to have been addressed or corrected. Google Nerds, get on it! -

★★★★☆ Great for short writing; struggles with longer works MegaManFanForever · 19 Mar 2024I’ve been using Google Docs on my tablet ever since back when Textilus (now named Notes Writer + I believe) had a full makeover and became too hard to use. For further reference, my primary uses for Google Docs have been for various essays, idea jotting, and poetry, but mostly writing long fictional works for fun. Google Docs works well for the first few categories. However, it is very disheartening when I’ve been working on a story for so long only for it to be nearly impossible to scroll through and work on it without serious lag and crashes. Works around/above 10,000 works tend to struggle

the most. Typing words can take several moments, with it lagging a few seconds between each letter being typed. Using Search and Replace on things like names I decide to change quickly causes it to crash. Selecting (executed with double tapping on my tablet) and deleting can be finicky as well. This, plus the lag that Google already gives me due to an overflowing storage (which I cannot seem to fix outside of its constant begging to get a subscription), makes writing not fun anymore. Google Docs is not a bad application. It is very good for what it is mostly meant for; business writing, joint writing (which worked well most of the time for when I used it), and short writing. I just miss being able to write lengthy stories, with the means to edit them in complex ways, without consequence. -
★★★★☆ Okay but... gardenosound · 8 Jun 2020Okay, so I use this a lot I recently just started useing this everyday but.. I do think it needs some improvements like... the spell check. Come on.. really? I’ll be editing a google document for a urgent document I NEED to do because it’s like a job and it has a due date witch I have to get done within 2 weeks because we realease these documents every month, and I’ll type in something like Danceing and it spell checks too Darning in dance. And it’s very annoying cause then it makes the other people think oh that’s what it’s supposed to say and it gets ME in trouble for it. Sometimes I’ll type

Have and it spell checks too hart.. come on really this was so bad I HAD too download grammerly. Next, they should all start with a title bar where you click it and type your title instead of it being at the top of the doc. It’s kind of annoying haveing to change fonts and size to type the title. Then you should also add more templates cause I’ll be trying to write a letter and I can’t find a good template you should also add 2 templates twice a week. Also add a button where you can click it and make it a template please because I really need to do this but.. I CANT! I worked for an hour makeing a document wich I can’t make into a template cause files won’t work for me! Also I think you need to add more pages allowed like 200 pages and also make the pages bigger. I also think you should add files too because i need to sort my work and my other documents. You should also fix the crashing please. -
★★★★☆ Just Suggestions and A Few Complaints. FoxeGamer01 · 27 Jun 2019Okay, so Google Docs is the app that I use the most for printing stuff out.i love that you can choose all these fonts and colors and sizes. I don’t want to brag, but I think it’s important if I say a fact...: I am an eleven-year-old girl who writes novels. I haven’t published any so don’t get your hopes up. I actually have a few complaints because I have a VERY creative way of writing my novels. First, I would really like for there to be a way to use a tab on a mobile device, because I have my phone and iPad on me almost always, not my computer. I’ve tried all these things, but it still w

on’t let me use a tab to indent. Also, I would like for there to be a better way to find out if you type correctly. For instance, since I am eleven-years-old, I can sometimes misspell things, especially if I try to incorporate large words in my novels. But it fixes it, and I’m fine. My problem is, sometimes when I’m typing extremely fast to let my ideas spill out, I miss a word. So I have to go back an check everything since Docs doesn’t count that as a mistake. I also have a few suggestions. I was wondering if Google Docs could add a graphic organizer for novels. Everyday, I want to write a different novel, and sometimes I get lost in my ideas. That is why I would love it if you had a graphic organizer where I could write really fast to let ideas out, then fix it after. My second suggestion for Google Docs would be to at least add a novel format page, so it’s set up for someone to start writing a book. Thanks for reading my review, and I recommend Google Docs for all those young writers out there ;b. -
★★★★☆ Better for Personal Use NoEyesJess · 5 May 2019I’ve been a longtime user of Google Docs—around three or four years—and it’s been great for storing important documents. I’ve also used it a lot for jotting down ideas, writing creative stories, and other personal uses. I feel that these are what the app is best for. I’ve tried to use it several times for academic essays, and the current format does not support certain basic functions, especially with indentation, adding page numbers in MLA or APA, and so on. The spell check for Google Docs is also flawed, and frequently marks everyday words as misspelled, and then other words not in the regul

ar dictionary as perfectly correct. The syncing is also kind of finicky sometimes, and you can lose work or have to restart the app multiple times in one sitting, if you’re somewhere that there is no ideal connection. So if you’re a student or a professional, you are also going to want Microsoft Word, which has more features and is easier to use. However, the syncing generally works very well, and I love being able to back up all my documents. The aesthetic appearance of the documents are also very appealing, and most of the basic writing functions are easy to access. Keyboard shortcuts still work, and those shortcuts match to whichever model of computer you are using, so you don’t have to learn anything terribly new to use the app competently. It’s super easy to add other contributors, and to restrict privacy/use settings. All in all it has served me very ell. -
★★★★★ Best app ever Zain the insane 2.0 · 3 Feb 2019I have been writing on docs for awhile on my computer, I want to be a author when I grow up, but taking my computer everyone is hard and too much. This app is great because 1. It let’s me edit on it. Most mobile devices apps don’t let you edit, just view. So now I can edit in the go. 2. Now since I CAN edit on the go with a easy device to handle, I don’t have to bring my laptop everywhere and just enjoy myself from time to time. 3. It’s an offline and online. That’s great since when I don’t have much internet I can just edit by myself without the app being so slow, and when I have a lot of in

ternet I can edit with my friends too. Okay so those are my reasons even though this apps needs improvement, I still will give it five stars since it’s so awesome and easy to use (sort of) but the thing is that when I click something like the insert button by mistake I can’t get out of it without having to get out of the app and get back. Although this isn’t so bad since it saves everything for you and you don’t have to redo the whole doc and it’s hard to click things by mistake so often. Plus it doesn’t give you a tour, like when I first got this I didn’t know how to share my docs sad I would have to do it on my laptop. But I figured it out a eventually and all is well. I still want people to get this app since it’s really nice. Just a few tips is that you should add a tour for people that just joined so they now where to go. Also add a exit button for the things like insert and tools. (sorry if this stuff exist and I didn’t know, that’s another reason why u still gave it five stars) anyway thanks for this awesome app! -
★★★★☆ Highly recommended, but definitely room for improvement Silvercove · 6 Aug 2018Google Docs is very, very useful as a whole, providing services that allow seamless collaboration and that solve many past horrors of word-processors (like the classic “I didn’t save my doc and now it’s gone foreverrrrr!!”). As great as it is on desktop, I personally found the transfer to mobile devices a little, well, less great. It’s obviously difficult to find an intuitive way to lay out all the functions of Docs on desktop onto a smaller screen, but it’s honestly such a huge hassle navigating comments and suggestions, even when I’m on my iPad. It’s also kind of annoying that I can’t zoom
more
out more on a doc—basically, once the width of the page fills the screen, I can no longer zoom out. This doesn’t sound like a huge deal, but it makes for a lot of tedious scrolling when an already long document has relatively large text. Additionally, there are these small annoying glitches that occasionally occur. For example, when I was editing a doc, I kept trying to delete a space, but it would always delete the space and the letter behind it. I tried over and over again to no avail... sigh.... It also seems to me that Docs can get kind of slow? I’m on a new device, so the hardware should be working fine, but there’s a huge lag when I’m trying to type in the app. Other than these few problems, everything else has been working fine and going smoothly.
