Privacy policy

This page says what StoreTally records about the people who use it, and why. The short version: visits are measured with Google Analytics, requests pass through Cloudflare, the web server keeps request logs, and that is all. There are no ads, and no data is sold.

Google Analytics

StoreTally uses Google Analytics (GA4) to count visits and see which pages are used. It sets cookies in your browser to tell visits apart, and Google receives information about each page view, such as the page, the referring site, and your browser and device. Google's own policy explains how it handles this: Google Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can opt out of Google Analytics on every site with Google's opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking its cookies or scripts in your browser.

Accounts

You do not need an account to use anything on the site. Accounts exist only for site administration. An account is a username and a password; the password is stored hashed by ASP.NET Identity, never as plain text. No email address is collected. Signing in sets a cookie that keeps you signed in.

Server logs

Like most websites, StoreTally's web server records each request it receives, including the IP address, the browser's user agent and the URL requested. These logs are used to run the site and keep it secure, for example to find errors and spot abusive traffic.

Requests reach StoreTally through Cloudflare, which delivers and protects the site. Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details to do that; see the Cloudflare privacy policy.

Store data

The listings shown on StoreTally - names, developers, descriptions, figures and permissions - are public data collected from the Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Apple and Google Play stores. See Methodology for how it is collected.

What StoreTally does not do

  • No advertising.
  • No selling or renting of data about visitors.

This page will change when email alerts ship, to say what they collect and how it is used. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
