★☆☆☆☆ Drivewise Stays In “trip in progress” Too Long BD620 · 9 Aug 2026**UPDATE 8/9**. Replying to the developers. Sure, I can go back and reclassify trips to say I was a passenger when I wasn’t…just so I don’t get a ding. I don’t like that suggestion. Instead, how about updating the app to improve ending a trip in a timely manner, which will Improve the customer experience? I talked to your customer support team and they advise that it now can take 15 min after each trip before the app ends a trip. When I try to end a trip it counts towards phone activity usage. That means I will have to reclassify most of my trips. 15 minutes? That is entirely too long. I sho

p with and pay for items with my phone (like most consumers). Having to sit in the Chick Fil A parking lot for 15 min so I can order/pay with their app is a huge inconvenience. I’m told other customer have called into complain about the same thing. I hope there is a plan in place to make the necessary improvements. Horrible experience since the last update. When I park my car I noticed that if I don’t wait a few minutes before I open the app, I will get dinged with “phone activity” for that trip. I’ve waited 3 minutes after parking to reach for my phone - same thing. This morning was the worst - I waited in my car for 8 minutes before touching for my phone. I headed in the grocery store to look at my shopping list and it was still in “trip in progress” mode, so that will be another ding. I used to be excited to use the app for potential savings at renewal, but in the current state I will have to pay more! Can’t talk to anyone on the phone about this. Support only has FAQ’s and none of them address this issue. Horrible app!Developer reply · 7 Aug 2026Hi, the app follows the phone it’s downloaded on, not a specific vehicle. It also automatically detects trips. So, there’s a chance it may record a trip while you’re not driving. There are options to prevent a trip from recording or to reclassify an unwanted trip. Then those trips won’t count toward your Drivewise driving history. -
★★★★☆ Drivewise not so good. Francotirador87a · 17 Nov 2025The app itself is fine, Drivewise makes no sense sometimes. I think people need in this part of the app the option to feedback or dispute a trip. I always check how the app recorded my trips, and there’s been a few times in some roads where the app recorded my trip as if I was speeding, when I get to drive again on that same road I make sure to check the speed limit and realize I was not speeding. Maybe the app doesn’t have an updated map with the proper speed limit on some roads, making the driver look like s bad driver when the app is what’s wrong. Please add something where we can provide

feedback or dispute a trip. I know I could just change the trip add if I was the passenger but I prefer the right way. Also, how does driving at night make people bad drivers? As well as hard braking, constant hard braking means bad habit/bad driver/distracted driver, Rarely hard braking could mean the driver is aware and alert at all times, imagine a good driver paying attention to the road and surroundings braking hard when somebody cuts them off in front, or just hard breaking avoiding an accident because of somebody else’s fault.Developer reply · 18 Nov 2025Hi, sorry about that. ★★★★★ Five star review for Allstate Denny G. · 29 Aug 2025After spending a year with The Hartford through AARP, I can honestly say it was the worst insurance experience I’ve ever had. Every call to the 800 number meant sitting on hold for 30 minutes. Only to reach a different representative each time who never seem to know my case their app was a nightmare while it told me what a great driver I was, and even though showed awards, I supposedly owned they still raise my rate because my wife didn’t show up on the app, even though she was already included twice I was told they would open an IT ticket and call me back that call never came. Switching to Al

lstate Insurance has been a complete opposite experience from the very first phone call. I was impressed when I called the office. I actually get a real person who is helpful and professional. If the representative is not available she’s always calls me back prompt a special thank you to THUY who personally walked us through every step she set up the app for us made sure we had all the coverage we needed and answered every question with patience and professionalism she turned what had been a frustrating process with my previous insurance into a smooth and stress-free experience the service has been outstanding. The communication clear and the rates are fair better than what I was paying before. I couldn’t be happier with Allstate. They’ve restored my faith in what Customer service should look like Allstate has my vote hands-down shame on AARP for recommending Hartford. I believe they should be recommending Allstate.Developer reply · 28 Aug 2025Love to hear that! -

★★★★★ Hurricane damage Birdheadlynch · 15 Dec 2024We live just south of Augusta and the wind blew over a 30”water oak that fell from the roots coming out of the ground. Luckily a 20” water oak only inches behind our fence kept the tree from falling but caused large branches to fall through our above ground pool and wooden deck, but if the smaller tree had not been there to support the larger tree from falling, my family would have been dead. Dad,mom and 19 year old daughter we all got in our master bedroom and the next morning realized the 30” oak tree would have fallen directly on top of our roof and the tree would have landed on top of th

e bed we were in. No doubt a miracle. We heard the branches snapping and immediately moved to the front of the house were no trees were an imminent threat. I called Allstate the next day after realizing the larger tree was going to over pressurize the smaller tree that it was leaning against and destroy the bedroom. The next morning Allstate sent a contractor with crane and bucket truck and dump truck removed the two trees and eliminated the real and present danger. A one day response I considered a miracle also with so many other houses that were not as lucky as us. They came out took pictures and we had a final claim completed in less than a month. I wish the other contractors could work that fast but understand the demand for repairs covered numerous states and not many homes were as lucky as ours. I have been an Allstate customer for over approximately 30 years and have never had a problem with filing a claim or having the price go up due to a claim being filed. Thank you Allstate, a very satisfied customer.Developer reply · 17 Dec 2024Love to hear that! -
★★★★★ Drivewise Drivewise not · 1 Feb 2024I have been having problems with my Drivewise. I have called the center followed all their steps, have viewed the video, done everything, downloaded the app again, is very upsetting is refreshed the app, turned off my phone and still no trips have been logged. I called after my January 19th, trip, after waiting 4 days to see if it showed up, since then I took a trip on January 24th which I had notified the person I spoke to (Joy) and took another trip on January 28th, and planning another trip today January 30th, and nothing has been logged. I will be checking on this and call back on January

Please try to resolve this matter.. Thank you. I took a trip today and was surprised it was recorded, but I’m still missing my January 19th, January 28th, and only half of my trip January 30th it recorded my trip there but not the trip back home, so I guess that means I’m still where I was.!!! Let’s hope this keeps working correctly in the future. Thanks again!!!Developer reply · 31 Jan 2024Sorry you're experiencing issues with the app. Please ensure you've updated your iPhone to the most current version of Apple's operating system and that should fix the issue. ★★★☆☆ Battery killer, unfair reporting of “phone activity “ TonyLAFerrera · 23 Mar 2022I’ve been using this for a couple months. I do not text and drive period. However I do use navigation on my phone for work. This app is ridiculous; it’s too over simplified. If I’m getting text notifications while I’m driving and I click the side button on my iPhone to silent that counts as phone activity, just the same as if I was driving down the road texting. Also it’s an extreme battery user which makes no sense because the screen isn’t on because you’re technically not supposed to be texting or looking at your phone so it makes no sense. It’s such a weak copout that the app developer will

reply to people and say that you need to have your phone plugged in. Not sure the hassle is worth it for the modest discount. Also you have to login every single time you want to look at the app and it’s reporting. Update: I was contacted by the developer and told to update my iOS to the latest version. Not sure if that was in response to the battery usage because it sure doesn’t do anything about the design issues. Update: The app definitely identifies phone activity occasionally on trips where I know with absolute certainty that I did not physically touch my phone at all. Both vehicles I drive have hands-free Bluetooth connections. I got one modest discount in the beginning for using it and that was the end of it. I’m guessing the information they get to collect on my phone activity is far more valuable to Allstate than the discount I’m getting. And another thing: their rules for phone activity aren’t compliant with Florida law for texting while driving. Florida makes an exception for using the phone for navigation, but without a doubt this app will not make an exception for that with regards to penalizing you for phone activity.Developer reply · 18 Jan 2022Sorry you're experiencing issues with the app. Please ensure you've updated your iPhone to the most current version of Apple's operating system and that should fix the issue. ★☆☆☆☆ Good company but Mitch8361 · 9 Jan 2022Allstate has always treated me fairly and timely. I have been a customer for over 40 years. That said, the app is pitiful. Sometimes you can’t see the writing because it seems to be superimposed on other writing. My biggest complaint is the Drivewise program which you can only use now thru your phone. I just upgraded my iPhone only to realize that it wasn’t the phone , but the Drivewise in Allstate app using 60-70% of the phone battery. Apple says there is nothing that they can do about this that it is Allstate using location in background constantly. I obviously want to get the good driving b

onus but I also need my phone to have battery life. Today alone it used 75% of my battery. Now I have to turn it off and on. I think this is very inconvenient. Why can’t the app let you use it when your phone connects to your car. That way you don’t have to sacrifice battery for bonus. I don’t think I will remember to do this everytime I get in the car. It was better when the little device was in the car. Also the app is very difficult to navigate and doesn’t do a lot of what it should. I can’t check what my car insurance payment will be next month as it is a new year and the price will most certainly go up. I hope someone monitors the conversation that happen in reviews and actually do something to fix it but I won’t hold my breath. Allstate is too expensive not to have better service and it may be time to switch. Update: now the battery issue is fixed with location on always but doesn’t record tripsDeveloper reply · 4 Jan 2022We apologize for the inconvenience. ★★☆☆☆ Dear Developers, please fix: Phone Activity Tracking Thatperson1122332211 · 13 Jan 2020This is a pretty great app that is worthy of five stars except for how drivewise tracks your phone activity. I don't mind that it tracks it. I just have a problem with the way it tracks it. I live in a state where touching your cell phone while driving is illegal. It's a great law, so I had stereos installed with hands free in both of my vehicles, so I don't touch my cell phone while driving. They other day, though, I was going somewhere for the first time and couldn't find the destination, so I pulled into a parking lot, put my car in park and plugged my phone into stereo so I could use the

GPS. On that trip, I got dinged for using my phone because the app saw that I was using it in the middle of a trip. It didn't take into account that I was stopped at the time. I suppose I could have been doing something at a stoplight with my phone, which is illegal, but it would be great if I didn't get dinged for safe and legal activities. I know I can tell the app to disregard the trip because the data is incorrect, but I work from home and don't drive all that much, so I need to record the trips that I can. Another scenario is when my wife is in the car reading my texts to me. I can't tell the app that it wasn't me using the phone. Another one that I get hit on is when I get to a location and use my phone when I get there. It will ding me even though I'm using the phone when I'm not driving. TL;DR The phone activity hits me when I'm not doing anything unsafe or illegal. I like that it's in the app, but I think there need to be a few more if/then statements to increase its accuracy.Developer reply · 23 Jan 2020Thank you for taking the time to review the app. This feedback isn’t used currently to calculate rewards, but is used to provide awareness into unsafe driving behavior and encourage safer driving habits. We'll continue to improve on this feature, keep up the safe driving you already do. -
★☆☆☆☆ WOULD GIVE ALLSTATE ZERO STARS IF I COULD SN WW · 23 Apr 2019Let me start by saying I’ve been with Allstate for 47 years....ever since I moved out of my parents house to attend college I had auto coverage through them. I’ve had both auto and home insurance with them since my first home purchase in 1987. So, think about how many thousands of dollars I’ve paid Allstate in that time period. The tile roof on my current home was inspected by Allstate in 2016 before they would insure the home. Per Allstate the roof was replaced 10 years ago and was in excellent shape. Then the AZ monsoon season came in July of 2018 and blew almost every tile out of alignment
more
and broke more than a few. Five roofing contractors looked at the roof and each one said the roof was in need of full replacement due to the damage. Allstate disagreed. They wanted to “repair” the tile roof with “similar” clay tiles that did not match the San Valle clay tile because it hasn’t been made in many years. Allstate’s first estimate to repair the roof was $700 which doesn’t even cover my deductible. After months of wrangling, (8 months) my roofing contractor was able to get the repair amount up to $14,000 which was just over half what the roof actually cost us. Long story short, I’m no longer with Allstate. They have absolutely no clue what customer service or customer loyalty is all about. 47 years of customer loyalty meant nothing to them....I was just a very expensive premium to them.
