Veridial: Phone Number Locator

Veridial is a phone number locator: type any phone number and it tells you which country and which area that number comes from, and it does it offline.

★ PHONE NUMBER LOOKUP IN ONE TAP

A full phone number lookup without leaving the app. Veridial reads the country code and the area code and gives you:

• The country, across 245 countries and territories
• The area behind the area code, in 150 of them
• Whether it is a landline, a mobile, a business or a premium-rate number
• The local time in that number's own time zone
• The number written in international format

★ AREA CODE LOOKUP

Every phone number carries an area code, and that area code belongs to a place. Veridial keeps the numbering plans of 245 countries inside the app, so an area code lookup is instant: type the number and the area appears. Spanish area codes come from the CNMC plan itself, and every other country from Google's libphonenumber.

★ CALLER ID FOR AN UNKNOWN NUMBER

Make Veridial your caller ID app and an unknown number stops being unknown. While the call is coming in, Veridial tells you the country and the area that phone number is from. It lets every call through: it never blocks a call, never hangs up and never labels anyone.

★ WHO CALLED ME FROM THIS NUMBER

The Calls tab lists every call caller ID has identified, with the country and the area next to each number. Tap the caller ID alert and the number opens with its map. Select a number in any app, or share it, and Veridial looks it up for you.

★ THE AREA ON A MAP

Veridial shades the whole region an area code covers and marks its centre. The map lives inside the app, so it draws with no connection at all. Pinch to zoom in and out, drag to move around it, and tap any country to read its numbering plan.

★ IT WORKS OFFLINE

Every phone number lookup happens inside your phone. Airplane mode, the underground, a basement, roaming abroad: Veridial works exactly the same, and it answers instantly because there is nothing to wait for.

★ PHONE NUMBER DETAILS YOU CAN CHECK

Each numbering table names its source inside the app, and your lookup history stays in the phone so you can come back to any number you checked.

★ IN 30 LANGUAGES

English, Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, Arabic, Bengali, Russian, Urdu, Indonesian, French, German, Japanese, Turkish, Vietnamese, Korean, Italian, Thai, Polish, Dutch, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Ukrainian, Malay, Filipino, Swedish, Czech, Romanian, Greek, Hebrew and Hungarian, with a right-to-left interface where it belongs.

★ SMALL

Under 5 MB. It takes up what a photo takes up.

★ PERMISSIONS

One, notifications, for the caller ID alert. It is optional and the app works fully without it. It is requested when you turn on caller ID, and a refusal is never asked again.

★ ABOUT THE DATA

The area Veridial shows is the one the area code belongs to, that is, where that numbering was assigned. With number portability, a number can spend years in another region or with another carrier.
