Éist: PDF/Ebook to Audiobook

Unlimited books and unlimited listening, free. No ads, no account. Éist turns EPUBs, PDFs, fanfic links and articles into natural-sounding audiobooks, with read-along highlighting synced to the audio.

Éist (pronounced "esht", Irish for "listen") is a text-to-speech audiobook reader that works offline once a voice is downloaded, with speech generated on your phone. Import a book, choose a voice and press play.

★ CLOUD ASSIST: OUR BEST VOICE, STRAIGHT AWAY
Love a Kokoro voice but your phone can't keep up? Cloud Assist lets Éist prepare the next part of your book online, in the Kokoro voice you chose, so it starts straight away. Balanced mode is free every day. Premium adds Save battery mode and more Cloud Assist time. Listening to audio already on your phone stays unlimited.

Cloud Assist starts with the built-in guide and, unless you choose Use the built-in voice, can also help with your own books on Wi-Fi. When it's on, upcoming text excerpts are sent to Éist and independent cloud providers, whose operators can access them while they are processed. Cloud Assist keeps no book text and no audio; for the free allowance it keeps an anonymous install ID, how much audio it made each day and short-lived technical records. Mobile data use is your choice in Settings. Pick Device only at any time to keep speech generation on your phone.

★ READ ALONG AS YOU LISTEN
Follow one word at a time, synced with the narrator, with the focal letter highlighted. Use the sync dial to adjust the timing. Read-along helps with focus, dyslexia support and language learning. Read along (one word at a time): 15 minutes a day free; Premium removes that limit.

★ YOUR BOOKS, FANFIC AND ARTICLES
Import EPUB or PDF ebooks, paste a fanfic link from Archive of Our Own (AO3), FanFiction.net or Royal Road, or add an article or pasted text. Éist turns it into a chaptered audiobook.

★ NATURAL AI VOICES
Choose from 60+ on-device text-to-speech voices across Kokoro, Piper and Supertonic, covering 30+ languages. Download a voice once and it works offline. Preview voices and switch narrators mid-book. The free plan includes three voices, with Kokoro Alloy available from the start.

★ BRING YOUR OWN AUDIOBOOK
Add an MP3 or M4B audiobook to a matching EPUB or PDF. Éist plays your narrator and lets read-along follow the text on your device.
