Works OK ish but then randomly applies a setting from a specific channel globally - i.e. bugged mess, not updated in years - bit of a shame on the author.

Fair enough. I created this during my spare time, and it works well enough for my personal use. I released it for free in case others found it useful. If it doesn't do what you need, there are many others available.

Is that possible to make it work on YouTube music too? Right now after each new song it changes it's playback speed back to 1 and requires manual setting for each song even when default is different from 1 it starts every song from 1 speed. Could it be maded like with videos? At which it would hold setted default speed without going back to 1.

Works really well, awesome! The only gripe I have with this cool add-on is that it does not take into account that the browser (Firefox in this instance) always assumes the tab is set to zero playback speed. The result is that if I want to reduce playback speed by one tick, I end up at .75 and not the expected 1.75. Any chance for a fix? Can you take the actual current speed into account? Keep it up! EDIT: Seems to have stopped working for a couple of days now. :/

Very nice lightweight extension that works very well almost every time. I'm not sure why but some channels appear to be immune to having a default speed set. I've only found 4 so far. Would love to know if there is a way to fix this.

It works sometimes, but too often I'll load a video from a channel I watch frequently, and it forgets my speed setting. And if you skip far ahead in a video, so YouTube has to reload the stream or change the quality level, the speed adjustment is consistently lost.

works fine and all but i'm struggling to figure out how the per-channel setting works, because it never seems to save the speeds i set

a pretty nice addons, there is a small bug.. if an ads start playing at the start of the video, the video will start at 1x speed and you need to re-adjust the speed again, even if you already set the default speed

Better than the other add-ons, but you can't get any fraction :/ Is there a reason why all these YT speed controllers don't support (more) exact values?
    Developer reply · 15 Oct 2020
You can set any step size, down to 0.01. (Right click icon > Manage Extension > Preferences).
  • ★★★★☆ tg · 23 Sep 2020 · v1.1
Functional. BUT please whitelist music.youtube.com domains or others which may not work well having a non 1x speed default.
  • ★★★★★ miniGweek · 22 Jul 2020 · v1.1
Thanks Samuel Li for this wonderful extension. This works as expected, I can control the speed for any Youtube video and can set a default speed. Some suggestions 1. Please improve the docs clearly stating with screenshot how to enable the speed ticker :) 2. A Shortcut key to enable 1x speed will be very useful. 3.

Works as expected: fix video speed but you need to be on the Youtube tab. I like the idea to have icon in the awesome bar, however I was expecting : * to see it on every tabs, not just youtube, so I can change speed from anywhere * that the value reflect current setting instead of a fix `3x` * valid input using keyboard `Enter` Improvement will be to have: * keyboard accessible extension * a quick way to set back to 1x speed
