Works, but terrible performance issues on Firefox. Much more optimized on Chrome. Come on guys! In the age of AI - you can do a lot better, quicker, before someone else will just take it, fix it and rebrand it!

Was amazing for a while but currently has way too many performance issues that even extends to sites where it's not even on

I've used Dark Reader for YEARS but I'm finally throwing in the towel. At least on Firefox, this extension will lag your browser to death. I spent a whole week trying to trial and error what extensions were causing such huge memory usage issues and constantly causing sites to lag. I figured it was something like ublock, canvas blocker, or chrome mask. Nope. Everything lead back to Dark Reader. This extension has helped with my eye-strain issues so much. I seriously hate to get rid of it but I can no longer look over the performance issues. Please, figure out a way to make this extension light
moreer or at least a stripped back version. I would love to come back and write a nicer review. For now, I will be using Stylus and simply grabbing user dark themes where I can.

Rating 5 stars because this feature is invaluable, and I've been happy to donate to the extension's development. This extension made giant strides since a few years ago; I almost don't need to disable it to unbreak sites. The performance could have been better, though.

While it works beautifully, it has a super high impact on the performance of a browser, whether is it active on the website or not :-/

I stand corrected for me previous review: one website that was giving me the biggest of troubles was attempting to do its own dark-mode, saw this app working: and both doubled down and looped in itself, creating weird artifacts that (Well, I think I was seeing the matrix..). Whitelisted the site, reset the website to use its own darkmode, and everything works great again. One point I bring back from my previous 3-star review: "this extension is my go-to plugin for every system I use Firefox on". Really, I value a good dark filter over ad-blockers.

Preying on vulnerable people for their money is very bad, why can't you just help us like you used to from the goodness of your heart? money is the root of all evil, i thought you were a good person, i guess i was wrong, you gave in to corruption. Thanks for letting us people with conditions and no money suffer more now than we do already, very nice of you!!

Absolutely fantastic addon that has worked on every single site I've thrown at it. The only downside is a bit higher resource usage than I'd like but it's bearable on my more modern systems. Mobile and lower end devices? Dark Reader makes the browser chug.
