Chalky is a climbing journal that works wherever you climb. Create sessions, log attempts, track projects, capture media and review stats, all in one place. Everything saves to your phone first and syncs once connected, with no reception required.

LOG AS YOU GO: Start a session, log climbs, and refine when you're done. Include grades, attempts, sends, hold types, media, notes and more. Fill in what you care about and skip the rest. Quick-log records a climb in three taps, allowing you to stay in the moment.

SEE YOURSELF IMPROVE: Climbing stats that include grade pyramids, climbing progression, send and attempt rates. Wall-angle and style splits show what you've been avoiding. View your whole climbing history, or just one session at a time. Unlock achievements when you hit a milestone.

SET GOALS AND WORK YOUR PROJECTS: Pick a challenge and track every attempt and high point until you succeed. Set climbing goals to motivate you along the way.

EVERY DISCIPLINE, EVERY GRADE SYSTEM: Bouldering and sport, indoors and out. Trad, ice, mixed, aid, free solo and scrambling. Roped climbs record whether you led it, top-roped or ran it on auto belay, and sends record how it went: onsight, flash, redpoint, pinkpoint, clean, hangdog or solo. Grades in V-Scale, Font, French, YDS, Ewbank, UIAA, British trad, Water Ice, M-scale or aid. Set your default per discipline and Chalky remembers.

LEARN AS YOU GO: Not sure what a pinkpoint is, or what counts as a flash? There's a reference built in explaining 50+ terms, holds and techniques.

RELIVE THE SESSION: Every finished session becomes a story: your climbs, your photos and videos, your notes, and the weather you actually climbed in. Attach media straight from the session or from your library.

SHARE YOUR SENDS: When a session is worth showing, build a share card and post it wherever you like. Want to show off a sick send? Add your climbing buddies to share your photos and clips with them. No feed, no follower counts, nobody you didn't invite.

BRING YOUR HISTORY WITH YOU: Import years of logged ascents from theCrag via CSV so you're not starting from scratch. Export everything back out to CSV whenever you like. It's your data.

MAKE IT YOURS: Customise the look with light and dark themes, eight accent colours and three typefaces.

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT: No ads, nothing sold, no third-party tracking. Product analytics are anonymous, hosted in the EU, and there's an off switch in Settings.

I built Chalky for my own climbing: local gyms around Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, and outdoor climbing around the Glass House Mountains. Every app I tried fell over on something basic. One couldn't capture video. Another didn't have the stats I wanted. Most needed reception I couldn't count on, and a few felt built for the gym rather than the climber. So I made the one I wanted to use. If it helps you learn something from each session, it's doing its job.
