Engage with youth or adult tours in the galleries, or a living history area tour to learn more about English, Powhatan, and West Central African cultures, which came together and sometimes clashed in early Virginia.
Visitors scan artifact markers located throughout the galleries to learn more about an artifact and the culture that produced it. Then they step outside to explore living history in re-creations of a Powhatan Town, English ships, and James fort. iBeacons located throughout the living history area guide the experience and build on the stories told by costumed historical interpreters.
Make more discoveries about life in early Virginia through additional imagery and video content and navigate your way through each tour using the 3D map feature.
